Day 3 was a tough one for Team Malaysia, coming up against a strong Ireland side.

There were a lot of close battles, but many of them just didn’t fall our way. Emma Firyana faced Shauna O’Neill twice and pushed hard in both matches, but narrowly lost in tie-breakers (11-2, 3-6, 0-1 and 2-9, 5-4, 0-1).

Izzat Shameer also had a challenging day against Gary Kelly, going down in both encounters despite fighting for every end.

In the pairs, Amirul Danial & Soufi Rusli and later Idham Amin & Soufi Rusli both took on Adam McKeown & Gary Kelly, but couldn’t quite get over the line.

On the women’s side, Aleena Nawawi & Syafiqa Haidar were involved in a tight match that went the distance, just missing out 3-5, 7-3, 0-1.

The bright spot came from Alyani Jamil & Syafiqa Haidar, who showed great resilience to secure Malaysia’s win of the day. After dropping the first set, they bounced back strongly to take the match 2-4, 4-3, 1-0.

Team Malaysia heads into the final day of competition with multiple medal opportunities on the line, following a competitive showing throughout the tournament.

The day will begin with Malaysia contesting for gold in the Men’s Pairs, as Amirul Danial and Soufi Rusli take on Ireland’s McKeown and Kelly at 3.30pm (Malaysian Time) on Rink 2. The match will be featured on live streaming via WRONG BIAS – Bowls Podcast on Facebook and YouTube.

At the same time, Emma Firyana will compete for the bronze medal in the Women’s Singles against Scotland’s Caroline Brown on Rink 3.

Attention will then shift to the Women’s Pairs at 5.15pm (Malaysian Time), where Aleena Nawawi and Syafiqa Haidar will face Australia’s Dawn Hayman and Kelsey Cottrell in the gold medal match, also on Rink 2 with live streaming coverage.

Malaysia will have another opportunity to secure a podium finish at 7.00pm (Malaysian Time), as Izzat Shameer takes on Australia’s Corey Wedlock in the Men’s Singles bronze medal match on Rink 6.
