A STRONG team of 101 officials and volunteers will oversee the smooth operations of the inaugural ‘World Cup 2025’.
Several briefing sessions were held at the Bukit Kiara National Lawn Bowls Centre – the venue of the ‘WC2025’ from Nov 4-8.
Tournament Director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Zin thanked everyone for pitching in to ensure a successful tournament.
“Every detail is important in making this event a success. All the committees will have to deliver their tasks as we are being watched globally.”
Venue manager Fairul Izwan Abdul Muin also briefed the participants of their respective roles. Fairul, a former international is no stranger to the international lawn bowls community.
He won bronze (pairs) in the 2008 World Outdoor Championships and a silver (2014 Glasgow) and bronze (2010 New Delhi) in the pairs at the Commonwealth Games.
Many former internationals have also come forward to give a hand in the organisation of the event.
Two-time Commonwealth Games women singles gold medallist – Siti Zalina Ahmad, 2012 World Champion of Championd winner – Mohd Hizlee Abdul Rais, 1998 KL Commonwealth Games bronze medallist (fours) – Haslah Hasan and two-time SEA Games gold medallist (2017, 2019) – Syamil Syazwan Ramli.
